Richard Pieris Exports PLC (RPE) pioneered the manufacture and export of Rubber mats for numerous applications with highest quality standards also RPE manufacture a range of rubber products including food grade jar sealing rings, crutch tips and specialized rubber products for the US, European and the Asia Pacific markets from its inception since 1983. Richard Pieris Exports is a subsidiary of Richard Pieris & Company Limited (ARPICO), one of the largest and most diversified blue chip corporate entities in Sri Lanka.

Richard Pieris Exports rubber mats range mainly divided in six product categories. Entrance mats, Food Services Mats, Agricultural Mats, Sports & Leisure Mats, Industry Mats and Specialty mats. Specialty mats includes Fire retardant mats, Electrical Safety mats, Anti-static mats & Anti-Microbial mats for all of which conforms to the international standards. Test certificates have been obtained from laboratories in UK & Germany. At present, RPE export 300 types of rubber mats of various colors, hardness, thickness, sizes, uses and applications.

RPE is a ISO 9001 2015 certified company and have obtained number of certification and awards during its journey over three decades.

In a year marked by volatility in global demand and shifting macroeconomic trends, RPE stayed agile – leveraging its deep sector expertise, streamlined operations, and global partnerships to maintain momentum. This theme reflects the Group’s ability to stay in motion, despite headwinds, through prudent strategy, consistent quality, and an unwavering commitment to innovation and sustainability.

Richard Pieris Exports PLC has its roots in humble beginnings, set up in a small factory in a leased building in Ratmalana in 1983. It commenced operations with a modest product range that included entrance mats, mats for work stations, gymnasiums and the food service sector. Armed with a share capital of a mere Rs 75,000, it was using presses fabricated in Hong Kong by a roadside supplier. In time, the Company started exporting a few designs of large ring mats to Europe and USA in 1984. Since then, the Group has grown from strength to strength, achieving remarkable growth and market stability to become a holding Company with two subsidiaries and one Associate Company. Today, it has become the pioneer in manufacturing numerous speciality products such as fire retardant mats, electrical resistive mats and special soft mats for stables and dairy farms.

Diversifying its export product range further, food jar sealing rings were added to its product portfolio, targeted at the European market. The rings were made to food grade quality standards and are in high demand in Europe region. This exemplifies that the jar rings meet the exacting Europe region quality standards. 1986
Group subsidiary, Richard Pieris Natural Foams Ltd., was set up to introduce Latex foam products to international markets, which reflects the Group’s determination to expand and diversify. Sustainability was at the core of this operation, as all waste generated at the factory was recycled to protect the environment. A state-of-the-art, world-renowned Chronos Richardson computerized automated carbon black and other ingredient weighing and feeding system was installed for the Company’s black compounding facility in 1995, once again inspired by sustainability concerns.

Diversifying its product portfolio further, the Group started exporting crutch-tips, which is a vital part of crutches and provide comfort and anti-skid properties. Impressed by the quality of the crutch tips, the Company was appointed as the exclusive supplier of crutch tips for a world leading manufacturer, Kowsky of Sweden. 1997
Associate Company, Arpitalian Compact Soles (Pvt) Ltd., started exporting resin shoe soling sheets for exclusive shoe-makers in international markets, thereby taking a step into the world of fashion.

Marking a huge breakthrough for the Latex foam industry, Richard Pieris Natural Foams Limited commissioned the world’s first natural latex continuous sheeting plant at Biyagama FTZ, thereby showcasing Sri Lanka’s capabilities in this segment to the world.

The Group has gained consistent growth, resulting from its ability to implement strategies to satisfy the needs of discerning customers in international markets. In the year 2015/2016, the Group won several prestigious awards at the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka Annual Export Awards. The Gold Award for 'Agricultural Value Added Exporter’ in the Large Business category was bestowed on Richard Pieris Natural Foams Limited. 2015
Leveraging on rising demand and a widening customer base for Richard Pieris Natural Foams Ltd’s customer base, production capabilities in its Latex segment were upgraded with a capital infusion of Rs. 350 Mn to enhance technology and establish a continuous pillow line to cater to rising demand. During this year, the Company received numerous awards and accolades: ‘Most Outstanding Exporter of the Year 2016’ at the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka’s Annual Export Awards; and ‘Most Outstanding Exporter - Agriculture Value Added Sector’ & Gold Award - Rubber Product Sub Sector - Extra Large Category. RPE was recognized with the Silver Medal in the NCE Large Category at the Annual Export Awards.
Commenced construction of Richard Pieris Natural Foams Ltd’s new manufacturing plant.

The COVID-19 pandemic created challenging operating conditions and weak demand. However, the Group managed to deliver billions in rupee revenue. During this year, Richard Pieris Natural Foams Ltd entered 3 key source markets in 3 continents while infusing technical improvements, focused marketing strategies. 2021
Richard Pieris Exports PLC moved into the Extra Large Category at the NCE Awards, where it was honored with the Silver Medal.

RPE received the Bronze Medal in the N NCE Extra Large Category. This year also marked a significant operational enhancement with the implementation of a New Production Line for Continuous Sheeting.
Demonstrating its commitment to sustainable practices, Richard Pieris Exports PLC successfully achieved FSC Certification.

Both the new continuous sheeting line at Richard Pieris Exports PLC and new production facility at Richard Pieris Natural Foams Ltd are set to begin commercial operations in the financial year 2025/26. 2025
